First Annual Texoma Earth Day Conference is
set for August 16, 2007 at
the Grayson County College-Van Alstyne Campus.
Local Keep
Texas Beautiful Affiliates and Texoma Council of
Governments are excited to offer the opportunity to
provide information to elected officials and residents of
the region about the importance and advantages of
improving their community environment and providing the
tools to do so. The
conference will highlight recycling, conservation and
environmental enforcement issues.
Sponsors, vendors, and organizations will be able
to meet elected officials and residents of the Texoma
Region and surrounding areas and share their products and
information about their organization.

NRAC
will meet to discuss options for the remaining Fy2006/2007
grant budget. The committee
will look at options available to the region to enhance,
increase or promote the objectives of the Regional Solid
Waste Management Plan as adopted by TCEQ.

is planning the First Annual Texoma Earth Fair. The
planning committee has formed and is seeking input and
assistance to ensure a large participation at the August
16th event to be held at the Grayson County College- Van
Alstyne Campus. Sponsors and Vendors are sought for
the event that will engage speakers to cover
Beautification (Volunteer efforts), Education (Recycling
programs), and Enforcement (Legal strategies).

Governing Body Approves Resolution Request
In its regular monthly meeting, the TCOG Governing Body approved the request from the
Environmental Coordinator to submit an application to
coordinate and host a Household Hazardous Waste Event in
the region.

NRAC
Holds Quarterly Meeting and Public Hearing
In its regular quarterly meeting, the NRAC approved the
TCOG Recycling and Waste Reduction plan presented by the
Rebecca Stephens, Austin College Intern. The
Committee heard updates on the FY 06/07 Regional Solid
Waste Grants Program Funding Plan and held a Public
Hearing on the same. Next meeting set for September
19 2006 at 4:00 pm.

Welcomes James Burnett, New Environmental Coordinator
Executive Director Frances Pelley, and Community
Development Director Kevin Farley, are pleased to announce
the newest addition to TCOG, James Burnett in the role of
Environmental Coordinator. James has a bachelor's
degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and
comes with an entrepreneurial and technical background.
